Gary Kyle Nicolau, founder and director of AHBI, is focused on the study and conservation of African Reptiles and Amphibians. His research interests in Herpetology are taxonomy, evolution and biogeography driven.
He has traveled extensively across Africa, predominantly in the southern regions , documenting and observing rarely encountered reptiles and amphibians. He is also an avid wildlife photographer and biodiversity consultant.
Scientists are using social media platforms to better African herpetology, educate the public, and mitigate snake bites across the continent.
