Educate, Conserve, Admire
Many African reptiles and amphibians face imminent threats, demanding immediate conservation efforts
The African Herpetological and Biodiversity Institute is dedicated to a range of ambitious goals focused on the reptiles and amphibians in Africa. Our mission involves creating opportunities for African researchers and students, collating databases on African herpetofauna, conserving and recognising the critical roles reptiles and amphibians have in maintaining functional ecosystems, and ultimately working towards the preservation of their habitats and the promotion of biodiversity conservation in Africa
AHBI: Bridging Knowledge Gaps in African Herpetology
African Herpetology
There are severe knowledge gaps across many fields in Herpetology, from taxonomy and demography, to ecology and evolution. This is limiting conservation efforts regarding African reptiles and amphibians. We aim to bridge the gap and add to the growing body of knowledge of Africa’s herpetofauna.
